Maybe itโ€™s because of the way weโ€™ve learned to always be working.


Picture this: itโ€™s Monday morning, your phone buzzes with a work email even before you opened your laptop. You know you shouldnโ€™t check it, but you do anyway almost without thinking.



Maybe someone close to you asks, โ€œ๐ถ๐‘Ž๐‘›โ€™๐‘ก ๐‘ฆ๐‘œ๐‘ข ๐‘—๐‘ข๐‘ ๐‘ก ๐‘Ÿ๐‘’๐‘™๐‘Ž๐‘ฅ?โ€ย You want to, but it just doesnโ€™t feel right.


A lot of these habits start when weโ€™re young. Maybe you saw adults around you working all the time and hardly ever taking breaks. Maybe if you ever sat around, someone would tell you to โ€œ๐‘”๐‘œ ๐‘‘๐‘œ ๐‘ ๐‘œ๐‘š๐‘’๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘–๐‘›๐‘” ๐‘ข๐‘ ๐‘’๐‘“๐‘ข๐‘™.โ€ After a while, you start to believe that ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐จ๐ง๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐š๐ญ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ ๐ฐ๐ก๐ž๐ง ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎโ€™๐ซ๐ž ๐ ๐ž๐ญ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ž.


A lot of people feel guilty when they try to rest. It feels weird or wrong not to be busy. But the truth is, rest actually helps you get more done.


Burning out isnโ€™t a sign you care it just means youโ€™re doing too much. So what can you do?



Think of rest as part of being productive.


Set clear times when youโ€™re โ€œoffโ€ and stick to them.


Remind yourself: nothing bad will happen if you take a break.
