Why you can’t feel joy

Ever wonder why joy feels out of reach, even when things should feel good?
When you're stuck in hurt, fear, anger, or guilt, your system protects you by shutting down. But it doesn’t just block pain, it blocks pleasure too.
You stop expecting good things. You turn inward. You pull away from people you care about. Even love feels harder to give… and to feel.
To feel pleasure again, you first need to make space for it. Not by forcing joy, but by gently facing the pain that’s in the way.
Healing isn't about removing your past, it’s about not letting it run the show anymore.
Sometimes, joy returns not with fireworks, but with a quiet yes to yourself.
Inspired by the book “Emotional Resilience” by David Viscott.Give yourself space to reflect, to question, to notice. If you’ve done that, then my intention is already half fulfilled.
