Have you ever felt uncomfortable when things are too good?
For some people, avoiding pleasure becomes a habit. Not because they don't want happiness, but because it feels unfamiliar, even unsafe.
They’ve been hurt, disappointed, maybe even judged for feeling joy. So now, when something good shows up, they pull back. They expect pain. You might know someone like that, or maybe, it's you.
We often avoid joy not because it’s bad, but because it threatens the walls we’ve built to protect ourselves. Healing means learning to receive the good without apology.
You’re allowed to feel good. You don’t need to earn it. Save this if joy has felt like something you had to survive, not enjoy.
Inspired by the book “Emotional Resilience” by David Viscott.Give yourself space to reflect, to question, to notice. If you’ve done that, then my intention is already half fulfilled.
